ヽ(;▽;)ノ
Finally got the chance to try the dim sum at Swee Choon!!! I've been hearing a lot about it and how it's a good place to hang out for late night supper but i've never been there personally boo. 4 person, each at about $17 each, I guess that's pretty reasonable~

Today got the chance to go there with jwen yrui and ting!! It was superrrrr filling and super yummy! Ofc the place wasn't that accessible, but a small walk wouldn't hurt since it helps digest all the food we ate!

Basically we pigged out and ate a lot of yummy dim sum!!

Red bean paste......sth. I forgot the name.

Imo the Xiao Long Bao was REALLY good. I really liked it and the soup tasted good. One thing i dont like about XLB thou is when you leave them to chill for a bit and the skin sticks to your teeth?? Not sure if im the only one, but i tend to get annoyed by it lol

Egg tart is good too! The middle is really soft and really fragrant~ almost wanted to eat another one hehe

I super love the filling in this yam ball! It's not too sweet and the filling doesn't overwhelme the taste of the yam outside either, I would say it's a perfect combi. Definitely my personal favourite tonight.

I liked how the carrot cake is really soft and the sides are superrrrr crispy!! It's like the thing melts in your mouth but yet it's crunchy at the same time! Definitely go really good with the chilli (i choked on it though lol)

This fresh prawn roll is SUPER GOOD. The crispy fried beancurd skin outside is really crispy (duh) and the filling is really fresh and every bite is just prawns, prawns, prawns and more prawns! Totally worth a try imo.

First time tasting liu sha bao too!! Was really surprised that it wasn't that sweet like i imagined, in fact, it was really good! And ofc a warning that you need to eat this with caution or you'll be caught in a mess (or unglam situation lol)

And lastly we finished off dinner with a Mango Pomelo Sago~

Very sweet and very sour but nonetheless, a very refreshing dessert to end the dinner.

This week gonna go to the zoo!! Hopefully it'll be a fun trip and i hope the weather will be good, like not too hot and not raining (kinda hard but im praying hard too!!!)

Quick post on Poulet (Amazing French Roast Chicken)

Poulét

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PouletSG
Location: Vivocity, Chinatown Point, Bugis+, Jurong Point, Great World City

Saw another photo of food in my phone and decided to revive this dead space once again.

Poulet, actually Poulét, claims to have "amazing french roast chicken". Since it's french cuisine, I think the taste might just not be too appealing to some, but in general I think it is worth trying since i do like it quite a bit ^^

Above was the food my friends and I ordered. Mashed potato, fries, half baked chicken, sausages, and then also a tiramisu for dessert!

I personally liked the Mashed potato and Chicken a lot! The mashed potato is pretty dry and doesn't have any sauce on it, which wasn't quite like the normal ones I always eat (e.g. Popeyes) but it taste REALLY good. I liked the taste of it a lot, very 香 and you can taste a very yummy thick and creamy potato that makes you take one bite after another. Hoho. Drools.

As for the chicken, the meat is REALLY tender! The sauce has a faint herb/spice taste? I don't really know what it is, lol but it is a creamy taste indeed. The chicken is pretty decent too, i like the skin part a lot hahaha. The only annoying thing is that since it's half chicken or full chicken this just means......... BONES. Lol. It's pretty impossible to cut everything up nicely and the plate simply became a mess (which i get REALLY bothered about). But definitely worth the try!!

The sausage is pretty normal but the sauce is what makes it special i guess, you get both a jam, and some mustard... Er.. Dip. Fries, on the other hand, is just.... Fries. Nothing special definitely.

Lastly, the hory Tiramisu. Beautiful thing omg. Thick and yummy and really flavourful! I like it a lot~ but it's a bit more moussey(?) and wet inside so yeah, it kinda melts in the mouth~ must try! (Very sweet though)

Well, in conclusion i think it's a pretty good place to go, probably should try it at least once! 4 of us went and each paid probably about $20+, pretty affordable i guess...

Plus, from their initial store at Bugis+, they have now expanded and have more stores at other places now - Chinatown Point, Great World City, Vivo City and also Jurong Point. Pretty convenient imo, And they're opened from 11:30am to 10pm ( i think)

Go ahead and visit their website to find out more: www.poulet.com.sg

Hoshino Cafe

Suddenly saw a photo of the food we ate at Hoshino Cafe and decided to talk about it.

Located at the new side of Plaza Singapura at Dhoby Ghaut, i've always wanted to visit Hoshino Cafe since their pancake looked REALLY fluffy and yummy. Plus, the queue was always really long. Singaporean style : got queue means got deal (jk).

But anyway, last month i finally got a chance to visit the cafe for lunch with my bunch of taitais and i must say the food was pretty good! At least it was within my expectations ;3;

We had a variety of food - i ordered Carbonara spaghetti, Sen ordered Omelette rice, Shizu and Rin bought sandwiches. We managed to order a 2-layer fluffy pancake too!!

I must say the pancake was REALLY good, so fluffy and so soft ;u; it was warm and yummy too. The sandwiches, according to the rest, was pretty good and quite worth it (actually I think very expensive wor). The omelette was pretty simple, but according to Sen, pretty good too. Well, their Carbonara was.... Really thick and creamy. I think if you're a fan of creamy stuff it would probably suit your tastebud but nah, it was too creamy for me. It tastes good though but since it was a big portion, halfway through the meal, the taste was just too much to take :c

I personally think if you're there for their 'cafe' menu, it's actually pretty pricing, but looking at how yummy all their things look, I think it is pretty okay and worth the try! Their main course are reasonably priced! But there isn't too much variety for main course.

I wanna go back there again though!

Weekend was a blast with great company (and good food).

Met up with a couple of my secondary school friends for a walk and then dinner~ It was awesome cos' I hadn't met them for months, and I've known these crazy people for years (make that 10 to be exact).

I don't really know where we went since I was just sitting in the car and stoning (lol) but the place is really nice! I love the breeze!!! And I hadn't been breathing in fresh air for a while now :< and because I'm a fail blogger, so have some random pictures of... idk "scenery"?

Nope. I really don't know where this is ^ ^ ;;

After a good work-out (actually no, we were just strolling and camwhoring all the way but maa~), we went to Arab Street for some good food!

Halal French Cuisine, Cafe Rogue

Too lazy to pinpoint their location, so check out their FB page:

Price range: $10++ to $30++

I always thought this area is a really very fascinating area, where all the bars, shisha places are located, I swear this street is so exciting and vibrant every time I come. It makes the place really interesting in a way (but parking is a pain, just saying).

Set Dinner is @ $28 nett - here's the deal: they said ANY main course, and there are premium main courses that goes up to $32 AND if you get the set dinner, you still pay $28 and get all the other sides too = BEST DEAL.  And cheapos (actually, just broke) people like me, will definitely order the Set dinner. Of course you can go ala carte, nobody would stop you ^ ^

Warning: The cheese isn't for everyone, especially for those who can't appreciate it. 3 out of 4 of us couldn't take the taste of the cheese, so please bite with caution - if you take too big a bite and realize you can't take the taste then gg to you ^^

THE MUSHROOM SOUP IS FANTASTIC. I liked it a lot, if only they gave me a FULL bowl of it :( But if they really did, I probably can't finish my main course so well.... Give and take i guess. Oh. Everything on the menu was in French so I can't remember what we ate anyway since.... well... They're in French

Some chicken in mushroom sauce with potato underneath. (I ate this!) It's really good, I like how flavorful every mouth was and the chicken taste good too! And I think it's really filling since there's potato underneath too.

The following photos are what my friends ate, I didn't taste them so... But they said it was good so you guys can try it out! ^^

^ Lamb

^ Salmon

^ Beef

Hmm. This was a pretty useless post huh. Oops? ^ ^ ;;

Loklok @ Malaysia Local Delights (Tanjong Katong)

Virgin Loklok experience @ Malaysia Local Delights

Never had Loklok before, and never knew what it was like until my friends and I decided to go there to have a feast and to also celebrate a friend's birthday, I must say it was a good one!

First of all, you choose your soup base - we took chicken soup and satay sauce. They also have tom yam soup base, herbal chicken soup, 麻辣汤 and probably some others that I can't remember (lol). But I definitely would say since you're eating Lok lok, you'd better take the Satay sauce or it would be like a steamboat instead. Drinks are free flow too, just saying.

They have a huge variety of food - all free flow since it's buffet. Tons of seafood like prawns, cuttlefish, i think there's also some others, but since I'm not a fan of seafood, I don't remember (lol). There's tons of meat - chicken, pork, and tons of others. Sausages, hotdogs, cheese sausages, black pepper sausages, etc etc. And also a lot of fishcake, crabsticks, yada yada. omg, i can't remember anything although this was just last week.

But i do remember that they have tons of cooked finger food too! Nuggets, fried tofu, fried fish, fried prawn, bread (idk why) and a lot of other cooked food, yum yum.

My favourite?

THIS....

HAHAHHAA ANGRY BIRDS FISHCAKE.
They taste pretty so-so but omg they're so cute omg omg omg omg omg.

Food was too yummy, I had forgotten to take any photos and only remembered when we were finishing, so have a picture of the pot instead ^ ^

The dinner buffet was $22.80nett I think.  And we somehow had a 20% discount too (no idea what promotion it was but yeah). The place is opened until 1.30am so it's good for those who love supper! If you guys have the chance to, you should definitely go and try it out!

Oh, I almost forgot:

Pizza & Pasta! @ Shakey's Pizza

A/N: Question! Is Pizza italian food or is it American food. Hmm. Also, I can't seem to settle with any blogskin and i keep changing them omg... All of them look ghey and I'm too lazy to code one for myself. I'll settle it later i guess.

Shakey's Pizza

Here's a photo of their menu.

Here, have a photo of their set meals too:

I wasn't able to take a photo of the whole menu, (no, i just forgot).

I personally think if you're going there for Pizza, the personal pan pizza (4 slice) is about $10... I guess that's reasonable, but if you're going in a group, then set meal is definitely the way to go! I went with a group of friends, 4 of us in total, we took the family meal and each paid about $17+, a really good deal imo.

The Family Meal consist of a 12" Pizza (8 slice, one flavour, add $2 to get 2 flavours), 5 chicken wings (i can't decide if they're grilled or barbecued), 2 Pasta (you can choose from any pasta, including their Premium ones), 1 salad bowl and also 1.5l of coke (or lemon tea, or i can't rmb what else they have).

I swear we ate like pigs (no, not really).

Enough of talking, here's the lazy IG-filtered photos:

Caesar Salad
I personally find the sauce a bit too strong but I guess it's good! The vege are crunchy and pretty tasty! I like the bread a lot! I have no idea what's it toasted with, but probably a bit of cheese. Idk.

Pan-fried Seafood Linguine (w/ Carbonara in the background)
This is pretty good. 4 Prawns, 4 scallops, some chopped tomato chunks and stuff. Idk. It's tasty and the taste isn't that sick or strong. I would say it's a good one to start with!

Carbonara Spaghetti
REALLY THICK AND CREAMY O M G. Idk, if you're a fan of thick and creamy stuff, this salty thing would really suit your taste buds, but I'm not a fan of strong tastes so I guess this was REALLY sick after a while. Thank god we shared this among 4, or I'll die eating this plate alone.

Chic Wings
No idea why is it called "Chic" wings, or was it just a "chic"ken pun but either way. I think these are grilled? They aren't fried, that's for sure... Hmm. But anyway, It's pretty okay... Nothing special imo.. And that sauce in the middle... Is just black pepper sauce lol.  We didn't bothered dipping the sauce, but I did taste it, nothing special either, but I guess you can use it as dressing for those greens at the side? ^ ^;;

12" Twin Pizza - Classic Hawaiian & Mushroom Mania
We're probably idiots for ordering their normal flavours but hey, we love normal flavours.
Caution: The cheese hardens really fast if you don't eat it quick so you should REALLY eat it while it's hot, no kidding. We left this for the last and it's really hard D: But i like the bread though, it's nice. Also, I think they're pretty generous with their toppings, you can taste the ham/mushroom every mouth so I guess that's a really commendable thing.

1.5l Self-Service Coke Bottle
This photo is actually unnecessary  but I thought that it looked cute.

Lesson to be learnt: We ate the spaghetti first before eating the pizza... WRONG MOVE. If you guys ever go there, eat it in this manner: Salad > Pizza > Spaghetti > Wings > Coke. (jkjk about the coke part actually)

The spaghetti is really flavourful, and by the time we finished the spaghetti, all of us were full already, and then since we took some time to eat the spaghetti, the pizza has turned slightly cold too (aka the cheese has hardened :< )

But for a full meal like this, the pizza and pasta is really filling and tasty, the salad is fresh too, and the price is definitely safe for wallet-kun (or -chan if you want it that way) I would think that you can give this place a try if you're in Liang Court!

Japanese Western Food Review: Dulcet & Studio

A/N: I was pretty sure I might ditch this blog anytime since I'll be too lazy to update, but I think I have to start it off by pimping my favourite japanese western restaurant... I think it's japanese western, or maybe it's pure western, i don't know. But definitely, it's affordable good food and Wallet-kun definitely screams lesser when we go there.

Dulcet & Studio

ヽ(;▽;)ノ

Dulcet & Studio, located in Liang Court (nearest MRT Clarke Quay), was introduced by a really good friend of mine and after I went there once, I got REALLY hooked on it. I swear I couldn't stop talking about it, and my friends literally rolled their eyes at me when they found out that I went back there to eat again and again, and again (meanies). I think it's a Japanese western restaurant but I can't be sure (lol noob me).

They have main courses, like steak, and also pasta, and also some finger foods, salads, soups and the most important thing of all - DELICIOUS CAKES. Their menu might just be a little limited, but they're all good food and taste good so I guess all is fine. They actually have their menu uploaded so check it out: https://www.facebook.com/DulcetNStudio/photos_stream

PLUS, the price is relatively cheap. Probably ranging from $10-$30 unless you go for some high quality beef (which I don't eat btw) and there is no service charge and GST is inclusive in their price stated (very important point, that's why i bold it) so GOOD DEAL. I think it is a subsidiary of Tampopo but no, I can't confirm and chop on that so yeah.

Main courses are usually less than $20. In fact, the pasta are all $11-13ish, and then the steaks are more expensive, depending on the parts (i don't beef so I don't really know which part are more expensive tbh) and cakes are usually 4-5ish, maybe $6 for those fully creamed ones, and some other cheaper ones - the cheapest is their Tea Time Cake (photo below) which cost ONLY $2!!!!! They also have pudding, cup cakes, and some other stuffs too.

The ambiance there is really nice, it's a really homely, comfy kind of place to dine at... There isn't much people usually, the chair is comfy, (there's sofas seats for those who're just there for desserts and tea) and the decorations are really nice (there's a lot of cat wall stickers tbh). They usually play English pop, usually the old songs, but there was once I went and they were playing KPOP lol. PLUS. I think I really like the staffs there? Well, they're really friendly and helpful, especially this aunty who told me about the Top-up soup size thing.

Oh yeah, they have this $4 (or was it $6.........) top-up option, where you can get a small cup of their express soup (it's shot size really) with a salad to go along with your main. Really cheap add-on, but I do prefer their older menu's top-up options :(

Anw, here comes the most exciting part!! Photos!!! (Not really that exciting but at least you'd know what I've eaten ^ ^ )

Bacon & Mushroom Pasta
(idk if this is the real name for it lol)

Bacon very crispy! I would recommend eating it with the pasta cos' if you eat the bacon alone, it's really salty. (okay, I admit, i'm a weirdo who eats the meat and pasta separately) I liked the sauce a lot though :)

Fish and Chips
It was quite filling tbh. The fries are really nice, and I like the fish too, but I guess it's a really normal thing that you can eat elsewhere too, so I really think you shouldn't go all the way here and just eat Fish n Chips, lol.

BLACK Pig Bolognese Pasta (Chef Recommended, lol)
THE PASTA IS GREAT. I love that it's Black Pig and it's minced and cooked REALLY nicely, it's not too runny and it's not really dry. The pasta taste really good and it's really filling. Oh, and it comes with a salad which I took a picture of, haha. I have no idea what's inside actually.. I think there's oranges, corn, tomatoes, vegetables, and the sauce is some orangy-sauce which is very refreshing!

Matcha Chiffon Cake
THE CREAM IS GREAT. Matcha smell is not that strong so I guess if you're a hardcore fan of matcha, this cake might be a bit disappointing since the cream is the main lead here.

Strawberry Short Cake (RECOMMENDED)
I SWEAR THIS CAKE IS WONDERFUL. THE CREAM IS WONDERFUL. I like how fluffy their cakes are, and this is DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED. I mean it, it's really fluffy and every mouth you'll taste the cream, the fluffy cake and the strawberries. I can't get enough of this.

Rose Chiffon Cake (taste like Bandung)
It really taste like Bandung. If you like Bandung, this would be your cake. Sadly, I don't like Bandung.

..... I think this was Milk Tea Pudding(?) (without the syrup)
There's 4 basic pudding - Milk Tea, Milk, Custard, and Coffee. Each pudding comes with a different syrup (?) some caramel, some milk, some cream... I don't rmb which is for which. Either way, the pudding is really thick and flavourful but it does get a bit sick if you're not a fan of sweet stuff (aka me). They used to have as an top-up option for main course, but they changed it already :(

Choco & Vanilla Tea Time Cake
*DAMN CHEAP DEAL*
(CAN YOU BELIEVE THESE WONDERFUL CREAM FILLED CAKES ARE ONLY $2!!!!)
MY FAVOURITE CHEAP AND DELICIOUS CAKE. Well, it isn't really cake-cake, but it's still a cake. It's REALLY fluffy, and the insides are all just cream and CREAM. The same cream used on their chiffon cakes so it's really yummy. BEST THING, IT IS ONLY $2!!!!! Wonderful.

Something Chicken
This is a new item after their menu change (their current menu has been updated and more food added) And no, I don't rmb the name for this main. But this Chicken is great! It's really juicy, and there's actually mushroom sauce at the bottom, the chicken is grilled with some sauce on the top, and then also a bit of mustard in between, every mouth is flavourful and really good! AND THAT POTATO THING AT THE SIDE IS DELICIOUS, it's baked and crispy at the edge. I swear if they sold it as a side, I would SO buy it >8(

Okay, that's all I've eaten so far (actually maybe not, just that I don't have photos anymore) but this is how many damn times I've been to this restaurant, or cafe, or however you wanna call it. Bless me.

Anyway, I would say that with the food and everything, Dulcet & Studio is probably one of the really affordable Japanese Western restaurant that I frequent, and I think you should definitely visit if you're in the area! (There's Kinokuniya on Level 3 *wink wink*) The food is good, the CAKES ARE DELICIOUS and it's safe for Wallet-kun too ;-)

Till the next post then, if it happens.
