Becoming a Superstar K

Lousy title, I know I know.

Either way, went to Superstar K for Ting's birthday dinner the other day (like last last week) and spent the whole night experiencing K-style dinner and dessert for the night! It was fun because of the company, and we laughed so much. Interesting point to bring up though, was that the table next to us was a whole table of Japanese businessman, and well, I must say it was really interesting to hear people talk in Japanese in a Korean BBQ place. HAHA.

The ventilation thing is REALLY good imo. Don't you HATE leaving a BBQ place smelling like some grease or something, but with this ventilation pipe, you'll smell just like how you walked in (sounds like some cheap advertisement huh, i know i know).

The walls are really cute too, apparently you're given chalks to write onto the board too (if you're sitting beside the wall that is) but Nope, we did not do anything since we're lazy people like that :-)

I've never been to much Korean BBQ so I was a little surprised at how cramped the table was compared to the last place I've went, which was Ju Shin Jung opposite Haw Par Villa. But anyway, I was also quite surprised at how good the service here is. I mean, we ordered the meat and then they bring it to the table, cut the meat for us, grill it for us, and from time to time, they pop by your table and make sure your meat is cooking properly... I honestly thought we would have to do that ourselves and getting served was not in my imagination (and it makes me uncomfortable lol)

Also, some of the Korean guys working here are quite cute (。ゝω・。)

I SWEAR THIS STEAM EGG THING IS HEAVENLY. IT LITERALLY MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH AND IT IS REALLY VERY GOOD. Anyway, This egg is a side-dish and can be "replenished" upon request. However, the lady told us there's a limit and you'll be charged for it if you order too much, so please don't consume too much of it (plus high cholesterol).  The fish cake thing is really good too, and it's a side dish too, so you can ask for seconds ^^ There's also bean sprout, potato salad, and some other sides but I didn't remember to take a photo. But i took these 2 cos' they taste awesome 'kay.

Also, this Soy Bean Paste soup is REALLY good too. We actually ordered 2 because it was too good, lol.

Before and After (*°∀°)=3
The meat is delicious! Well, this is the Pork Belly meat, which is really great. Once BBQ'd, it's crispy at the sides (since it's cut thin enough) and it's really juicy too! Wrap this in your ssangchu and add in some sauce, it'll be a PERFECT bite.  (*°∀°)=3

In general, I think Superstar K is a really good hangout? It's cosy and it doesn't stink you (important point), and the meat is really good, service is good too, my only issue is that it's a bit pricey! My friends and I spent about $30 each at the shop, but since it wasn't buffet, I guess the price was still o.........kay (i hope). I really wanted to try the soju and stuff but since we had work the next day, I kinda gave it up. But I'll be back!!!!!!!!!! WAIT FOR ME SOJU!!!!!

ヽ(;▽;)ノ

After dinner, we headed down to the Korean Supermart just a couple of shops down from Superstar K! I wanted to eat some ice cream, but the one I wanted was OOS so I bought some weird looking fish instead... BUT TO MY SURPRISE DUDE IT TASTED DAMN GOOD. WHO KNEW WEIRD FISHES TASTED THIS GOOD.

It's almost like Taiyaki or something (or maybe it is) but it's reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy tasty omg. It's $2.50 but I think it was totally worth my money, I wanted another one actually LOLOLOL. It's really neat to eat (what kind of weird description is this) since it doesn't mess up and stuff, and the ice cream taste good and it's a BRILLIANT combination with that red bean i tell youuuuuuuuuu. It's sweet and really yummy!! You should try it if you see this!!!

The Best Medicine : Friends

I swear crying mad and going to bed is a really bad idea, i mean everything hurts so f bad when you wake up the next morning it feels like a hang-over or something. Horrible shit.

But today I met up with my secondary school friends and hung out for a bit! ☆ i'm glad i didn't die from the aching before i managed to meet them, talking to them was wonderful and honestly brings back a lot of good times! Some people just don't change and it's always fun to be together with them ^^

Either way, here's an obligatory food photo. Too lazy to update about kbbq and Itacho cos' too much photos, will do it next time.

Lazy Sunday ☆

Went to Liang court to pick up my manga, had Dulcet & Studio as usual (this is like a ritual already) and DAMN THEY ADDED NEW STUFF FOR THEIR SPRING MENU URGH. But due to time constraint we weren't able to try the newer items and ate back the Black Pig Pasta D:

Japanese class was fun today, sensei joked around a lot more and it seems he's more comfortable with us now but he still ask me if I'm cold everytime i end up sneezing like crazy in class (i'm sorry it's just sinus ;;). The more i study formally, the more i realized what I think I know is actually pretty useless stuff lol. So muj h for randomly self-learning for the past few years oops.

After class, went to Menya Musashi @ Orchard Ion. Hadn't had it in a long time and I must say I still don't quite like it. Hmm maybe it's cos their noodles are pretty soft and soggy? And also the broth are pretty thick ;A; i do prefer harder noodles and well... Not-so-thick soup base? Hahaha. But the meat is great and it's really spicy enough!

Here's i've attached a photo of the Red Shabu Shabu ramen i ate lololol

Shall blog about my KBBQ trip to Superstar K in the next post since there's a lot of photos (okay maybe just 5-6??)

(song rec) 古川本舗 「魔法 feat.ちょまいよ」

魔法 (Magic / Mahou) is a really beautiful song written by 古川本舗 and vocals is by one of my favourite nicodouga singer (utaite 歌い手) Chomaiyo (ちょまいよ)! If you guys are familiar with Vocaloid-producers, you probably seen his name somewhere before, if you hadn't, then just listen to this song as a song (lol).

The MV is based on "A Perfect Day to Bananafish", a short story by  J. D. Salinger. It's a really deep story, and a really deep MV tbh, but I lost the links to the explanations and stuff so I'll dig those up next time.

Above is the Faulty Day ver where the main dude didn't die - and since he didn't, it wasn't a perfect day.

Below is the Perfect Day ver. and also translated:

I sincerely hope you guys will love this song because I loved it a lot, and I looped it like crazy (lol) And I really how the whole MV looked too. Please listen to this if you have the time ^^

Yummy Shampoo MACHERIE (マシェリ)

Let's talk about my favourite shampoo which my friends call "the expensive shampoo" ☆

But I liked it a lot! I like things that smells yummy, things that smells good and feels good after you used them. I mean... The whole point of showering is to clean and smell good, isn't it? (Maybe not, but okay).
It is a bit steep, the 500ml conditioner and shampoo are at $19.90 each. But I think it's worth every penny :B

ALSO I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS UNDER SHISEIDO AND WAS A GOOD PRODUCT UNTIL I BOUGHT IT AND MY FRIENDS TOLD ME (lol). I honestly really only bought this cos' the package looked SO GOOD and the smell was so awesome. It feels so luxurious, and I LOVE pampering my hair (since i dye it so often, it might die on me one day :'< )

Anyway, there's the moisturizing one and air feel one, and since my hair is pretty thin and all, i bought the air feel one. It's great! After washing and conditioning, my hair feels light and fluffy, and best part is it smells so good I feel so happy just from washing my hair (lol)

I also caved in and bought their leave-on hair mist (called Aqua Energy Mist, 200ml @ $17.90):

It's really good (and smells good - lol) for frizzy hair. Great for hair that goes haywire (jkjk) or dry really easily and stuff. It tames the hair and makes it reallyyyyy smooth AND IT SMELLS REALLY GOOD (i'm going to keep repeating this again and again and again).

They also have the hair oil, and other products for different purposes... This blogger has a more comprehensive review here with the different products and price stated so check it out.

You can get all these at Watsons! Or try neighbourhood shops like Venus or something, they do carry the shampoo and conditioner too and it's cheaper (by 5 bucks!!!!!!)

You can check out their SG Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/Macheriesg
(and their jap webby if you want: http://www.shiseido.co.jp/macherie/index.html)

Weekend was a blast with great company (and good food).

Met up with a couple of my secondary school friends for a walk and then dinner~ It was awesome cos' I hadn't met them for months, and I've known these crazy people for years (make that 10 to be exact).

I don't really know where we went since I was just sitting in the car and stoning (lol) but the place is really nice! I love the breeze!!! And I hadn't been breathing in fresh air for a while now :< and because I'm a fail blogger, so have some random pictures of... idk "scenery"?

Nope. I really don't know where this is ^ ^ ;;

After a good work-out (actually no, we were just strolling and camwhoring all the way but maa~), we went to Arab Street for some good food!

Halal French Cuisine, Cafe Rogue

Too lazy to pinpoint their location, so check out their FB page:

Price range: $10++ to $30++

I always thought this area is a really very fascinating area, where all the bars, shisha places are located, I swear this street is so exciting and vibrant every time I come. It makes the place really interesting in a way (but parking is a pain, just saying).

Set Dinner is @ $28 nett - here's the deal: they said ANY main course, and there are premium main courses that goes up to $32 AND if you get the set dinner, you still pay $28 and get all the other sides too = BEST DEAL.  And cheapos (actually, just broke) people like me, will definitely order the Set dinner. Of course you can go ala carte, nobody would stop you ^ ^

Warning: The cheese isn't for everyone, especially for those who can't appreciate it. 3 out of 4 of us couldn't take the taste of the cheese, so please bite with caution - if you take too big a bite and realize you can't take the taste then gg to you ^^

THE MUSHROOM SOUP IS FANTASTIC. I liked it a lot, if only they gave me a FULL bowl of it :( But if they really did, I probably can't finish my main course so well.... Give and take i guess. Oh. Everything on the menu was in French so I can't remember what we ate anyway since.... well... They're in French

Some chicken in mushroom sauce with potato underneath. (I ate this!) It's really good, I like how flavorful every mouth was and the chicken taste good too! And I think it's really filling since there's potato underneath too.

The following photos are what my friends ate, I didn't taste them so... But they said it was good so you guys can try it out! ^^

^ Lamb

^ Salmon

^ Beef

Hmm. This was a pretty useless post huh. Oops? ^ ^ ;;

Loklok @ Malaysia Local Delights (Tanjong Katong)

Virgin Loklok experience @ Malaysia Local Delights

Never had Loklok before, and never knew what it was like until my friends and I decided to go there to have a feast and to also celebrate a friend's birthday, I must say it was a good one!

First of all, you choose your soup base - we took chicken soup and satay sauce. They also have tom yam soup base, herbal chicken soup, 麻辣汤 and probably some others that I can't remember (lol). But I definitely would say since you're eating Lok lok, you'd better take the Satay sauce or it would be like a steamboat instead. Drinks are free flow too, just saying.

They have a huge variety of food - all free flow since it's buffet. Tons of seafood like prawns, cuttlefish, i think there's also some others, but since I'm not a fan of seafood, I don't remember (lol). There's tons of meat - chicken, pork, and tons of others. Sausages, hotdogs, cheese sausages, black pepper sausages, etc etc. And also a lot of fishcake, crabsticks, yada yada. omg, i can't remember anything although this was just last week.

But i do remember that they have tons of cooked finger food too! Nuggets, fried tofu, fried fish, fried prawn, bread (idk why) and a lot of other cooked food, yum yum.

My favourite?

THIS....

HAHAHHAA ANGRY BIRDS FISHCAKE.
They taste pretty so-so but omg they're so cute omg omg omg omg omg.

Food was too yummy, I had forgotten to take any photos and only remembered when we were finishing, so have a picture of the pot instead ^ ^

The dinner buffet was $22.80nett I think.  And we somehow had a 20% discount too (no idea what promotion it was but yeah). The place is opened until 1.30am so it's good for those who love supper! If you guys have the chance to, you should definitely go and try it out!

Oh, I almost forgot:

Asian Dolce Latte

Let me just post a random post to test the Blogger app on mobile, and also to express my love for this new drink at Starbucks.

I swear it's burning a huge hole in my wallet, but i will willingly pay for this good coffee. I love it a lot!! The coffee taste is really strong and 很香, and when mixed properly with the milk, it leaves a really great after-taste too!

I hope Starbucks don't remove it from their menu soon so that I can indulge in this for a while (someone save Wallet-kun)

To collagen or not to collagen, that's the question.

The question is: Does collagen works, or does it not work? Is it necessary, or is it redundant?

I guess best way to find out is to buy small packs like this, try if collagen works for you, before you proceed to buy for long-term consumption. So, to experiment it myself, (no, more like i was in Wastons and the package looks cute and it was affordable like sgd16.90) so i caved in a bought myself a 1 week pack to try if it works!

My friend did say that when she consumed collagen, she had a pimple breakout, but i didn't seem to experience that after my consumption, so it's probably that my skin is really horrible, or maybe this thing just have different effects on different people. Maybe some people desperately needs it, maybe some don't.

Which once again justified my impulsive buy-- I mean, to try the 1 week pack first :)

I think the brand is Collagen C, by Otsuka Group. (<< obviously impulsive buy)

I bought the passion fruit flavour that is more for elasticity and radiance because I preferred passion fruit over the other flavours (what a way to decide) and there's another 2 flavours, one more for firming, another more for anti-aging (i think it was pear).

Either way, i think the jelly is really yummy!!! It's slightly sour but i really liked the taste :)

As for the results, some things I noticed after consuming this jelly for 1 week:
1. uneven skin-tone improved
2. pores & pimple scars are less obvious now

* as a point of reference, when I was eating this, my usual routine stayed the same; my usual cleansing foam and moisturizer so there's no other variables i guess...?

I did want to include pictures, but turns out my iPhone camera quality was so crappy you can't even tell the difference of before and after and so I gave up because I can't turn back time to take a photo of my skin 1 week ago.

Anyway, I don't know if I'll continue consuming this yet since it is definitely an expensive investment if  I want to eat this for long-term... but I guess I'll probably get a friend to buy me the DHC powder one when she goes to Japan! I really wanted to try that one~

Oh, and before I forget..

Pizza & Pasta! @ Shakey's Pizza

A/N: Question! Is Pizza italian food or is it American food. Hmm. Also, I can't seem to settle with any blogskin and i keep changing them omg... All of them look ghey and I'm too lazy to code one for myself. I'll settle it later i guess.

Shakey's Pizza

Here's a photo of their menu.

Here, have a photo of their set meals too:

I wasn't able to take a photo of the whole menu, (no, i just forgot).

I personally think if you're going there for Pizza, the personal pan pizza (4 slice) is about $10... I guess that's reasonable, but if you're going in a group, then set meal is definitely the way to go! I went with a group of friends, 4 of us in total, we took the family meal and each paid about $17+, a really good deal imo.

The Family Meal consist of a 12" Pizza (8 slice, one flavour, add $2 to get 2 flavours), 5 chicken wings (i can't decide if they're grilled or barbecued), 2 Pasta (you can choose from any pasta, including their Premium ones), 1 salad bowl and also 1.5l of coke (or lemon tea, or i can't rmb what else they have).

I swear we ate like pigs (no, not really).

Enough of talking, here's the lazy IG-filtered photos:

Caesar Salad
I personally find the sauce a bit too strong but I guess it's good! The vege are crunchy and pretty tasty! I like the bread a lot! I have no idea what's it toasted with, but probably a bit of cheese. Idk.

Pan-fried Seafood Linguine (w/ Carbonara in the background)
This is pretty good. 4 Prawns, 4 scallops, some chopped tomato chunks and stuff. Idk. It's tasty and the taste isn't that sick or strong. I would say it's a good one to start with!

Carbonara Spaghetti
REALLY THICK AND CREAMY O M G. Idk, if you're a fan of thick and creamy stuff, this salty thing would really suit your taste buds, but I'm not a fan of strong tastes so I guess this was REALLY sick after a while. Thank god we shared this among 4, or I'll die eating this plate alone.

Chic Wings
No idea why is it called "Chic" wings, or was it just a "chic"ken pun but either way. I think these are grilled? They aren't fried, that's for sure... Hmm. But anyway, It's pretty okay... Nothing special imo.. And that sauce in the middle... Is just black pepper sauce lol.  We didn't bothered dipping the sauce, but I did taste it, nothing special either, but I guess you can use it as dressing for those greens at the side? ^ ^;;

12" Twin Pizza - Classic Hawaiian & Mushroom Mania
We're probably idiots for ordering their normal flavours but hey, we love normal flavours.
Caution: The cheese hardens really fast if you don't eat it quick so you should REALLY eat it while it's hot, no kidding. We left this for the last and it's really hard D: But i like the bread though, it's nice. Also, I think they're pretty generous with their toppings, you can taste the ham/mushroom every mouth so I guess that's a really commendable thing.

1.5l Self-Service Coke Bottle
This photo is actually unnecessary  but I thought that it looked cute.

Lesson to be learnt: We ate the spaghetti first before eating the pizza... WRONG MOVE. If you guys ever go there, eat it in this manner: Salad > Pizza > Spaghetti > Wings > Coke. (jkjk about the coke part actually)

The spaghetti is really flavourful, and by the time we finished the spaghetti, all of us were full already, and then since we took some time to eat the spaghetti, the pizza has turned slightly cold too (aka the cheese has hardened :< )

But for a full meal like this, the pizza and pasta is really filling and tasty, the salad is fresh too, and the price is definitely safe for wallet-kun (or -chan if you want it that way) I would think that you can give this place a try if you're in Liang Court!
